The Four Principles of Personal Training: F I T T
All professionally designed personal training routines are based on four simple principles: Frequency, Intensity, Type, and Time. Frequency is how often per week the routine is practiced. Intensity is how hard you exercise during the routine (ex: how heavy are the weights, or how fast do you run). Type is the kind of exercise you perform (ex: running, swimming, weight lifting. calisthenics). Time is how long each individual exercise session lasts.
It sounds pretty simple, but in reality it's not. There are no "one size fits all" exercise routines. A professional trainer will use these principles to create a unique exercise plan for each individual based on their age, weight, current fitness level, medical history, and goals. A well designed personal training routine will yield safe, positive, long term results.
